Mediation
Stress from conflict can come with a high price. Your happiness, your sleep, your relationships and your health can be adversely affected by prolonged conflict. Mediation Mediation is the best way to help solve your problems. A neutral third party will help you and others that you are involved in a dispute with come to a mutually satisfying agreement. It's affordable, it's saves you time, and it can even save your relationships.

Co-Parenting
This class teaches parents how to manage conflict and how to effectively parent when living in two separate households. Co-Parenting Separation, Divorce, economic changes, and the addition of a new spouse can all bring added stress to two parents who are trying parent children from separate homes. This class gives valuable reminders, simple tools for managing conflict within the family and information about your children's developmental needs.

 

Policing Mediation Program
The Albemarle County Police Department and The Community Mediation Center have entered into a partnership. As many as one thousand police hours have been spent at a single home. This prevents police from being available for other emergencies. Calls to the police which involve perpetual disturbances where no law has been broken Volunteers in Police Service but, where there is a potential for escalation, will now be referred to CMCC for mediation. Complaints such as barking dogs, boundary issues, and noise complaints will all qualify for referral.

 

Mediation Training
CMCC offers classes, approved by the Supreme Court of Virginia, to train and certify mediators. Training is also appropriate for all those interested in improving their ability to handle conflict and solve problems in their personal or professional lives. CMCC also offers mentoring and continuing mediator education classes.

Classes and Workshops
Classes are offered on conflict management, and listening and communication skills. Workshops can also be designed for individual needs.
